RWANDA’S MUKASANGA MAKES REFEREEING HISTORY

After 36 matches since the CAF Under 23 Africa Cup of Nations began in 2011, a female referee was employed to handle a match.

Rwanda’s Salma Mukasanga is the history maker as she refereed the Group B game of Zambia and South Africa. Fathia Jermoumi from Morocco assisted her.

It was the second time in CAF history that a female referee leads a men’s match. The first time was at the 2019 U-17 AFCON.
