With a resounding 4-1 defeat of USA on Sunday night, Senegal ensured that thr trio of African teams at the FIFA U17 World Cup were off to a perfect start.
Nigeria had on Sunday set the ball rolling, coming twice from behind to beat Hungary 4-2 while debutants, Angola beat New Zealand 2-1 before fellow debutants, Senegal added colour to Africa’s performance so far.
In the early morning of Tuesday, (late Monday in the American continents), Cameroon will hope to further strengthen Africa’s position in the tournament when they start as favourites against Asian side, Tajikistan in Vitoria.
Senegal, like Nigeria, were off to a faulty start, conceding a goal to the USA in the third minute of their match on Sunday. Nigeria did the same on Saturday in their encounter with Hungary.
But Senegal, like Nigeria also had a splendid second half, to get a 4-1 victory.
