Tanzania became the first team to reach African Nations Championship (CHAN) Cameroon 2020 finals, after shocking hosts Sudan 2-1 at El Merreikh Stadium in Omdurman on Friday night.

Tanzania made advantage of the away goals’ rule with the aggregate score tied at 2-2, after Sudan had won the first leg 1-0 in Dar es Salaam.
The first half was balanced with slight advantage for the hosts. Amir Kamal tested Tanzania goalkeeper Juma Kaseja with a header that missed target after 19 minutes. Frank Domayo responded with a fierce shot that missed Ali Abdullah goal narrowly six minutes later.

Almost 25,000 Sudanese fans waited till the half hour mark to celebrate as Amir Kamal broke the deadlock from outside the area.

The visitors returned stronger after the break, and Erasto Nyoni restored parity from a free-kick five minutes from the restart.
Ditram Nchimbi shocked Sudan’s supporters after 79 minutes when he received Iddi Seleman pass to put Tanzania ahead.

The Desert Hawks as Sudan are nicknamed threw everything into attack trying to get the equalizer. Substitute Walid Bekhit shot rattled the crossbar two minutes from time, while Ramadan Agab’s free-kick missed the target deep into injury time, as Tanzania sailed into the finals.
