JUNIOR AJAYI INSPIRES AL AHLY TO TOP EGYPTIAN LEAGUE
Al Ahly, with six points have temporarily shot to the top the Egyptian Premier League table with after defeating Entag El-Harby 4-0 on Wednesday.
Thanks to goal-scoring sensation, Nigeria’s Junior Ajayi whose goal contributed to the Al Ahly’s haul.
The fanatically supported Egyptian side started in an electrifying fashion, when Ramadan Sobhi dribbled past Entag’s backline after a well-built play, however, the winger’s low strike hit the crossbar in the ninth minute.
Sobhi continued to be at heart of attack for Al Ahly, as he broke the deadlock in the 25th minute. Mohamed Magdy Afsha released Ramadona with a defence-splitting through pass that he converted calmly past Entag’s goalkeeper.
Al Ahly kept pushing forward and in the 56th minute, Sobhi received the ball behind Entag’s defence and squared it towards Hussein El-Shahat, who slotted into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Twenty minutes before the final whistle, Ali Maaloul went up the left flank and sent a low cross inside the box to Junior Ajayi. The Nigerian was left with a simple tap in from a close range, netting al Ahly’s third of the night.
Walid Soliman sealed the victory for the Red Devils, when he scored the fourth goal in the dying moments of the game.
The veteran smashed El-Shahat’s short pass into the back of the net to send Al Ahly to the league’s top spot with the full mark from two game, ahead of their encounter against Aswan on the 5th of October.
