The big names proved their worth, as the badminton event got under way in Rabat at the 12th African Games.
Like an hurricane sweeping through a pack of papers, the badminton powers easily overwhelmed the lesser powers.
The Nigerian team, despite arriving just few hours to the start of the event easily swept aside the timid opposition offered by Ethiopia in the mixed team event.
Nigeria won 5-0, taking a cue from Mauritius which opened the series earlier in the day with a 5-0 defeat of the hosts, Morocco.
There and then, all other results of the day had similar results. Uganda beat DR Congo while Zambia also overwhelmed Tunisia by the 5-0 score line.
