The proposed rematch of Andy Ruiz Jr with Anthony Joshua has taken a new turn.

According to Daily Mail of UK, the Mexican American has insisted that he has signed no contract yet and that he wanted the rematch in New York.

A rematch was announced for December 7 in Saudi Arabia on Friday and Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed on Monday that everything was signed for it to go ahead.

But Ruiz did not speak out until Wednesday and he has since claimed he has not signed to fight Joshua in Saudi Arabia.

He reportedly told ESPN in Mexico: ‘I have not signed anything yet, we are negotiating everything.’

Asked about a Saudi Arabia contest, the 29-year-old replied: ‘They want to do it there but we have to see where we negotiate with my team. I would like it in New York again.’

Ruiz Jr shocked the boxing world at New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 1 with a round seven stoppage of the British heavyweight.
