NIGERIA BEGIN AFCON 2021 JOURNEY WITH BENIN ON NOVEMBER 11
BY KUNLE SOLAJA
Nigeria’s Super Eagles begin their campaign for qualification for the 20121 Africa Cup of Nations with a home game with western neighbours, Benin Republic on November 11.
This follows the breakdown of the draw made in Cairo last week, which merely assigned teams to groups without giving the details of the fixtures.
On the same day that Nigeria will be hosting Benin Republic, Sierra Leone will play hosts to Lesotho in the same Group L qualifying series.
Lesotho will be the next destination for the Super Eagles on November 19 to honour their Match Day 2 fixture.
On that same day, Benin will be hosting Sierra Leone. Those four matches will be the only ones in the series this year.
The qualification series will resume next year on August 31. That day, Super Eagles will play hosts to Sierra Leone while Benin will be at home to Lesotho.
On September 8, 2020, Sierra Leone will host Nigeria while Benin Republic will be away to Lesotho.
The Super Eagles are expected to travel to Benin Republic on October 5, 2020 for their Match Day 5 fixture. On the same day, Lesotho will host Sierra Leone.
The last match day will be on November 9, 2020, when Nigeria will host Lesotho and Benin Republic will be away to Sierra Leone.
