South African referee, Victor Gomez, originally designated for Friday’s Algeria versus Senegal final match of the Africa Cup of Nations has been dropped.
In his place, CAF has designated Sidi Alioum of Cameroon to handle the match. No reason was given for the change. Alioum handled three of the preceding 51 matches.
This included the opening game of Egypt versus Zimbabwe, as well as the match between Morocco and Cote d’Ivoire, and that of the quarter final game between Tunisia and Madagascar.
The two teams have met each other in the group stage of the same tournament and the counterpart ended with Alegria’s 1-0 victory.
