What an icing on the 70th anniversary cake of the Super Eagles! The Super Eagles are the first team into the Round of 16 after an unlikely scorer, Kenneth Omeruo nodded home, a Moses’ Simon corner kick from the right flank.

Kenneth Omeruo had excellent defending and crowned his effort a goal.

Nigeria now top Group B with maximum six points and conceding no goal and therefore cannot drop to elimination zone in the group stage.  Guinea will have to win their last match against Burundi on Sunday when Nigeria will be playing against Madagascar.

Toping the group means that the Super Eagles will remain in Alexandria for their Round of 16 match. The likely scorer for Nigeria, Odion Ighlo was marked out of the game by Guinea’s Ernest Seka who in the process fouled him and got a yellow card
