VIDEO: A 0-2 LOSS OF FADING HOPES FOR RANGERS IN CONFEDERATION CUP

It may take a miracle for Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers to make it to the knockout stage after a surprised home loss to Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia. What a bad day for the hitherto reliable Enugu Rangers; they were beaten to pulp at home.

A goal in each half gave the Tunisians the day and making Rangers to concede four consecutive goals to the Moroccans after their initial soul-lifting goal a week ago in Morocco.

Ahead of the other Group B clash of Salitas FC of Burkina Fasov CS Sfaxien of Tunisia, Rangers have tumbled to the bottom of the log and are almost out of contention for the knockout stage.

They will have to win their next two matches, away to Salitas of Burkina Faso and home to CS Sfaxien of Tunisia and hope other results favour them to get to the knock out stage.

Considering the way they held their ground a week earlier in Tunisia and the manner they frustrated group leaders, CS Sfaxien in an away match, Rangers were expected to carry the day at home in Enugu.

But that was not to be! The Tunisians started where they ended last week as Maher Hannechi scored in the 19th minute to put the visitors ahead.

Rangers could not really found their rhythm and made unserviceable passes to end the first half a goal down. The Tunisians increased the tally in the second half when Iheb Msakni converted a penalty kick.
