Former Dutch international, Ruud Krol who is the coach of Tunisia’s CAF Confederation Cup campaigner, CS Sfaxien has admitted that Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers are a good side.
Rangers battled the Tunisian side to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday to remain atop of their Confederation Cup league table.
Ruud Krol rmarked: “It was a good game. We played against a good team this evening and they were well prepared. We gave them too much space in the first half, but did much better in the second half.
“We secured the lead but made a mistake after. We left
players unattended on the right side and the foul paved the way. We fought to
win but weren’t successful. That is football, sometimes you play well and you
don’t win, and other times it’s the opposite”
But one of his players, Ala Marzougui a midfielder, attributed the 1-1 draw to fatigue.
“We were physically tired from the rhythm of games we’ve been playing. We didn’t play like we should have in the first half.
“We played well in the second half but we were unfortunate not to win. We played against an excellent team tonight, and we should not underestimate them.”
Rangers’ head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote obviously thrilled by the outcome of the game remarked that it was a good match.
“No one expected it to be easy. We were playing against a team that has won the CAF Confederation Cup before. We thought it would be more difficult.
“The winning mentality exists in our team. The moment we conceded, we knew that we cannot lose to CS Sfaxien. You say Rangers, you never say die. We managed to take back home one point and that’s a positive result.”
