For the 12th time, Nigeria’s Under 20 team, Flying Eagles will make their 12th appearance when the FIFA U20 World Cup 2019 kicks off in Poland.

The Nigerian side confirmed their participation after a 1-0 defeat of their hosts, Niger Republic in Niamey on Friday. The result also meant that the host country is eliminated.

Even though a draw would have been enough for the Nigerian side to qualify for both the CAF U20 semi finals and the World Cup, Ibrahim Alhassan’s 73rd minute goal ensured that the Flying Eagles avenged for the Golden Eaglets’ elimination by Niger from CAF’s U17 Nations Cup of 2017.

The Flying Eagles now await the last matches of Group B to know their Wednesday’s semi final opponents. The Ghana Black Starlets who are facing Mali on Saturday, are the more likely Nigeria’s opponents in the semi finals.
