EMILIANO SALA: PLANE OWNER, PILOT IDENTIFIED
Agent Willie Mackay owned the light aircraft missing in the English Channel after flying football player Emiliano Sala from Nantes to Cardiff.
Mackay was not Sala’s personal agent but involved in the deal to transfer Sala from France to Cardiff for £15m.
It is understood he owned the 1984 Piper Malibu five-seater aircraft, which vanished with Sala on board along with experienced charter pilot David Ibbotson, 60.
Father-of-three Ibbotson, from Crowle in Northern Lincolnshire, had flown the aircraft from Cardiff to Nantes on Saturday.
He was returning on Monday night with Sala on board when the aircraft vanished. Also, the Guernsey Police has given out the name of the pilot of the light aircraft that flew Sala. He is the only other person on board. He, according to UK Daily Mirror, is named as British pilot Dave Ibbotson, a 60-year-old dad of three.
Guernsey Police say that there has been “no trace” of the aircraft, and the chances of survival are “unfortunately slim”.
