The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Africa, has noted with sadness the gruesome murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an investigative journalist from Ghana.

This tragic and brutal killing is indeed a primitive assault on press freedom and a condemnable attack on the independent culture of journalism.

We are alarmed at this notably disturbing resort to violence to silence the voice that matter especially coming on the heels of an expose on the corruption of football in Ghana.

Whilst we go through this moment of grief and convey our deep sympathy to the family of the murdered journalist  AIPS AFRICA calls on civil society and well meaning people across the globe to fiercely condemn this heinous act and rise up against any act that seeks to settle score with the blood of a journalist.

Again, we call on the security agencies in Ghana, to conduct thorough investigations into the matter and bring the perpetrators to book. This despicable act must never repeat itself anywhere.

We sincerely urge all journalists within our sphere and beyond to remain steadfast, stay faithful in their independence and not be intimidated in the pursuit of truth and worthwhile fight against corruption and evil in society.
