Former Nigeria international and Iwuanyanwu Nationale forward, Eddy Lord Dombraye, has tasked the league organisers on the need to beef up security at football match venues across the country.
Speaking from his base in Ukraine where he is the coach of Arsenal Kiev U17 side, Dombraye, expressed his dismay at the ugly incident of violence that occurred on the opening day of the new NPFL season.
” It is
disheartening that we started the new season of our local league with unruly
fans attacking match officials,” he regretted.
” Painfully, it is becoming a reoccurring decimal in our football. And I tell you, it is not good for the image of burgeoning football league. Therefore, I want to implore the league organisers to provide better and tighter security at the match venues,” he stated.
Speaking further, he regretted the reported kidnapping of Coach Usman Biffo. According to him, the incident is a serious indictment on the country’s image and security.
Dombraye, a UEFA A and B licensed coach was, however, quick to state that the happenings in our local football would not stop him from returning to Nigeria to pick a coaching.
“Remember that I am thoroughly bred Nigerian. And I know the happenstances in and about our football. Therefore, I am ready to return to contribute my quota to the growth of our football,” Dombraye added confidently.
