Expectedly, Egypt and Liverpool striker, Mohamed Salah was on Tuesday named the 2018 African Footballer of the Year in a colourful ceremony in Dakar, Senegal.

He also won the previous edition, which was contested by the same trio that included his club mate, Sadio Mane and Gabon’s Pierre-Aubameyang.

They ranked in the same order with Pierre-Aubameyang coming third. Also, Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala lost her crown to South Africa’s Chrestinah Kgatlana.

Although the Super Falcons won the national women’s team of the year, it was the South African coach, Desiree Ellis, that won the women’s coach of the year.

The award for the national women’s team of the year, which was the first to be announced, turned out to be Nigeria’s only win.
