Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has fulfilled the promise made to the Super Falcons after the team won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for a record-extending nine times.
It will be recalled that the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Abba Kyari while receiving the Super Falcons at the Abuja airport on arrival from Accra, announced that two eminent Nigerians had called and offered cash gifts of N50 million and N20 million to the team.
The N50 million cash donation is from Alhaji Aliko Dangote and the other is from Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, the Chairman of BUA Company.
Both redeemed their pledges at an appreciation night the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick organized to appreciate the sponsors and partners of the football federation in the outgoing year.
The well-attended event held at the Lagos home of the NFF president. The Group Managing Director of Dangote Industries Limited, Olakunle Alake, made Alhaji Dangote’s pledge available.
He announced that the donation was for the Super Falcons, the NFF, and the coaching crew of the team as well as the back-room staff of the team, which is commended for winning the 2018 Women Africa Cup of Nations.
He asked the team to even do better when it features in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France next year.
