GOVERNOR OKOWA LIFTS SUPER EAGLES WITH $50,000 REWARD
Even though two of the three goals the Super Eagles scored on Saturday against South Africa were disallowed by the Gambian referee, Governor Ifeanyi Okonwa decided to still reward the team with $50,000.
The governor had before the game promised $25,000 for every goal Nigeria scored, but he decided to double the amount as a reward for the team’s doggedness in picking the ticket for the final tournament.
The Delta State governor remarked that he was convinced that the Super Eagles performed well enough to claim the maximum points from the weekend match in Johannesburg, in spite of the 1-1 score-line.
He also organized a banquet honour of the team after the friendly match played with Uganda on Tuesday.
