WIMBLEDON FINALLY DITCH MARATHON MATCHES WITH INTRODUCTION OF A FIFTH SET TIEBREAK AT 12-12
Wimbledon, according to Daily Mail, are calling time on extreme marathon matches by capping fifth sets with tiebreaks at 12-12.
The All England Club’s mind was finally focused on the matter by this year’s six hour 35 minute semi final between Kevin Anderson and John Isner.
Not only did it mean the second match between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic spilling into Saturday, it clearly affected the performance of the South African when it came to the Sunday final.

The US Open has long had sudden death tiebreaks at 6-6 although it is rare for matches to get that far.
There was only one case in the whole men’s tournament at Flushing Meadows this year, the 2.04am finish between Nadal and Dominic Thiem.
