NIGERIA’S IGHALO LEADS GOAL-CHART AT HALFTIME OF AFCON QUALIFIERS
Ahead of the second half of the qualifying series for the 2019 Africa Cup of nations qualifying series which began on Sunday, Nigeria’s lead striker, Odion Ighalo is also one of the lead strikers in the continent.
His hat-trick performance on Saturday against Libya put his total goal so far in the competition at four, making him a joint-top scorer with Zimbabwe’s Knowledge Musona as at the end of the first half of the qualifying tournament.
Before Saturday, Ighalo who was heavily criticized for his wasteful adventures at the World Cup, had scored a goal against Seychelles in September. Incidentally, it was from the penalty spot just as the opener in Saturday’s match with Libya.
His four goals have thus been consecutive. As at Saturday night when the first half of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tournament ended, the lead scorers were:
