AKWA UTD EMBARK ON END OF SEASON BREAK

The management of Akwa United Football Club has announced a three weeks end of the season break for players and officials of the club starting from Wednesday October 10th till end of the month.

 

Club Chairman Elder Paul Bassey made the announcement after a meeting with the officials and players of the club in Uyo.

“The just concluded NPFL season in which we finished second on the log was our best season since the establishment of this club 21 years ago. Who knows, maybe, if the league didn’t end the way it ended we would have been the NPFL champions.

 

“Our preparations for the new season will commence soon but we all have to take a break and go home to our families and loved ones after a long season.

“Those that we will need for next season, we will reach out to you before the end of next week but if we don’t call you, it means your services is no longer needed next season.

 

“As a player, while enjoying your break remember that you are a professional footballer, stay away from activities that will affect your fitness level. Maintain high level of discipline and be focused” Elder Bassey concluded.

 

The Promise Keepers finished second on the Nigeria Professional Football League table with 41 points from 24 matches, two points behind leaders Lobi stars.

The two time FA Cup Champions who were hoping to defend their Aiteo Cup crown were halted in the quarter final on penalties by Enugu Rangers in Kano last week.

 

Players and officials of the club are expected to return to camp on or before end of October to begin preparations for the 2018/2019 NPFL season scheduled to kickoff in November.
