Ahead of the crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounter with Libya at the weekend, the Super Eagles’ camp will open in Uyo on Monday.
The media officer of the team, Toyin Ibitoye, informed
www.sportsvillagesquare.com that some of the players who have completed their various clubs’ fixtures may start coming in this Sunday and take early Monday morning flights to Uyo from either Lagos or Abuja, depending on their point of entry into Nigeria.
Ibitoye said that even though no deadline was given to the players, he expects that by Tuesday, the camp will be bubbling almost with full attendance of the invited players.
The match with Libya comes up on Saturday while the reverse fixture holds in Tunisia on Tuesday. Libya, with four points, are currently the table topper and are followed by South Africa who have the same points, but lower goal difference.
A win by Nigeria this weekend will give the Super Eagles a momentary lead of the group ahead of the South Africa – Seychelles duel later on same Saturday.
Barring possible upset, South Africa are projected to win the encounter and possibly assume leadership heading into the second half of the qualifiers.
