ALL EYES ON D’TIGERESS AS ACCOLADES POUR IN
BY AKEEM BUSARI.
As Nigeria’s women’s basketball team strives to get to the quarterfinals of the FIBA Women’s World Cup in Spain, one of the backers of sports in the country, Chief Donatus Agu- Ejidike, has joined in celebrating the team that became the first African side to win two successive matches at the World Cup.
D’Tigress will face Greece at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Quico Cabrera Arena for a quarter-final ticket.
Ejidike, who is a board member of the Nigeria Karate Federation, expressed happiness to see the Nigeria team making waves in the global tournament. He was also upbeat about the chances of the ladies going farther in the championship.
“The girls have done well so far and I must commend their commitments, discipline and desire to make us proud.
” With well deserved victories over Turkey and Argentina, I urge them to go ahead and beat Greece later today and pick the quarter finals ticket,” Ejidike added.
