CHILD OF DESTINY! AMAJUORITSE PINNICK BREAKS 61-YEAR JINX TO RETAIN PRESIDENTIAL SEAT
BY ALIYU NASIR KANKARA IN KATSINA.
Amajuoritse Melvin Pinnick has retained his seat as the president of the Nigeria Football Federation.
He becomes the first back-to-back head of Nigeria football administration in 61 years.
The three musketeers…Pinnick is ably supported by his two vice presidents, Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko.
The last person to have a back-to-back tenure was the Late Fr. Dennis Slattery who retained his seat in 1957 after being voted in a year earlier. At the time, election into the then NFA was annual.
In winning on Thursday, Amajuoritse Melvin Pinnick polled 34 to beat the immediate past president, Aminu Maigari who had eight votes while Taiwo Ogunjobi had two.
The last contestant, Chinedu Okoye had no vote. As good sportsman and a gentleman that he is, Aminu Maigari hugged the winner after the announcement of the result.
