NIGERIAN RUGBY PLAYERS INDUCTED INTO SEVENS NATIONAL TEAM
Four players of the Nigerian rugby team, the Black Stallion were on Wednesday formally inducted into the Sevens National Team by the newly appointed Captain for this edition of Africa Regional Sevens Tournament, Jatto Onoru.
It was a brief but hilarious ceremony which lightened the mood in camp and bonded the players as a family.
The players are Omoragieva Monday Henry from Racing Rugby Club, Peters Jeremiah from Kings Collage Old Boys Rugby Club, Akpabio Samuel from Barewa Rugby Club in Kano and Azeez Olarenwaju from the Nigerian Police Rugby Team in Lagos.
All is now clear for the “war” to begin Thursday morning at the Institut national de la jeunesse et des sports (INJS) in Marcory
The beautiful sports facility hosted the Francophone Games in 2017 with a capacity to accommodate 4000 Athletes and Officials!
Host Cote d’Ivoire will kick off proceeding against Guinea in Group A at 11am Abidjan time. This will be followed by Burkina Faso locking horns with Mali. Then comes Nigeria’s opening game against Niger Republic.
Nigeria will play two other matches against Benin Republic and its last match of the day will be against the North Africans Algeria in the afternoon to round up day one.
On Day Two on Sunday, the semi-finals and classification matches for the third placed team will be played before the final game of the Africa Rugby Regional Sevens Tournament tagged “Akwaba Seven’s Men Abidjan 2018”
