In a congratulatory message signed by Mike Itemuagbor, the Chief Executive Officer of Pamodzi Sports Marketing Pamodzi saw Akinwuntan’s elevation as the chief executive of Ecobank as being well deserved.
”As a seasoned banker of repute, your elevation to the position of the Chief Executive of Ecobank Nigeria bears testament to your leadership qualities, customer service excellence, product innovation and experience having led the Consumer Banking business across Ecobank’s global network of 40 countries 36 of which are in Africa”, wrote Itemuagbor who expressed appreciation for the invaluable support the Okpekpe international 10km road race has received from the bank.
‘Your organization, as you may be aware has been partners in building one of the biggest sporting brands in Nigeria today and having Ecobank as one of the sponsors of the IAAF silver label Okpekpe international 10km road race has been a great pleasure and we deeply appreciate the support we have received from your organisation so far.”
Itemuagbor is confident the elevation of Akinwuntan as Ecobank MD will add value to the long relationship between the race and the bank and pledged Pamodzi will continually work towards the improvement and sustenance of the sponsorship.
The Okpekpe international 10km road race is the first road race in West Africa to get an IAAF label when it was granted a bronze label status four years ago.
It is also the first ever silver label road race in West Africa following its upgrade this year. It remains the only road race in Nigeria recognised by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
The race is organised by Pamodzi Sports Marketing, leaders in sports marketing and hospitality business in Nigeria.
