Man of the moment, Ahmed Musa who is the first Nigerian player to achieve a brace and also doing so in two consecutive World Cup tournaments is bracing up for more exploits.
His two goals in front of 42,904 spectators at the Volgograd Arena on Friday shot Nigeria from the lowest rung of Group D to the second position, upstaging Argentina and Iceland.
He remarked after the hope-raising performance that the Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina are the next victims of his fire power.
Four years and a day ago, he scored a brace against Argentina in Porto Alergre, during a 2-3 loss by the Super Eagles. “I did it four years ago, and I can still do it again”, remarked Musa.
The speedy Nigerian winger said that he appears wired too always score a brace anytime Messi is in the opposing side. He recalled his two goals four years ago and also that of two years ago when he scored two goals for Leicester City in a 4-2 defeat of Lionel Messi’s FC Barcelona in a pre-season friendly match.
“I did it, and I can do it again when we meet in an encounter we will work to win even though a draw may be sufficient”, said Musa.
He was hailed by the crowd when the line ups of both Nigeria and Iceland were announced prior to the kick off.
That was expected as Musa had been a prominent player in Russia playing for CSKA Moscow both as a player and also on loan.
He remarked that scoring at the Volgograd Arena was not new as he had always done so against the local club, FC Rotor Volgograd that uses the arena.
