MIKEL TO UNDER GO SCAN FOR INJURED HAND
BY KUNLE SOLAJA, VOLGOGRAD.
Minutes before the end of the hope-lifting win over Iceland on Friday in Volgograd, Nigeria’s skipper, Mikel Obi had a fall on his left wrist. The initial speculation was that it was a time wasting tactic.
It was about two minutes into the added time and Nigeria was leading 2-0. It turned out that the Nigerian skipper was actually injured.
At the mixed zone, while the players were filling out to join the team bus, Mikel had a red splint round his wrist. He confirmed the injury and remarked that he was going to undergo a scan this Saturday to ascertain the extent of the injury.
