One of the fastest wingers to have come from Africa, Segun Odegbami psyched up the Super Eagles on the eve of their make or break clash with Iceland in Volgograd.

Odegbami, whose 21 goals ranked next to that Rashidi Yekini as one of Nigeria’s all-time top scorers addressed the player during dinner on Thursday. He informed that his address to the players was a rare privilege offered him by the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick.

He is the only person allowed to do so on the eve of their greatest challenge so far at Russia 2018. In the spirit lifting meeting with the players, Odegbami said he reminded the players of their responsibility to ensure that they displayed the full version of the Nigerian do-or-die spirit.

“I reminded them also about their responsibility to the ordinary Nigerian on the street.  And that they must give their best. I reminded them of their assured place in history if they could rise above the disappointment of the match with Croatia”.

Odegbami also followed the Group D drama as Argentina unexpectedly crumbled in the encounter with Croatia. To him, the curtain has fallen on the Argentina hopes.

“I do not see how they will survive their last match against Nigeria’. Ahead of Nigeria’s second game with Iceland, the defeat of Argentina opened a wide opportunity for Nigeria provided the Super Eagles beat Iceland this Friday.
