BARCELONA, REAL MADRID CONFIRMED FOR THE NEW SUPER CLUB WORLD CUP

Following the inability of Qatar to host the traditional FIFA Confederations Cup which holds the year before the World Cup, a new competition, the 24-team clubs’ contest will hold instead. The change of competition is as a result of the World.

The World Cup will be staged in Qatar in winter of 2022 instead of summer owing to the extreme heat expected in Qatar in June and July.

As a result, Super Club World Cup will take the place of the Confederations Cup. According to the previous format of the Club World Cup, only the winners of the continental Champions Leagues are allowed to participate. The new format will allow more teams to play in this competitions.

  • 12 teams would come from Europe.
  • Six or five teams would represent South America.
  • Asia, Africa, North America would have two teams each.
  • Finally, a team from Oceania would have to play a special playoff with the fifth South American team.

As for Europe, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Ajax, Milan, LiverpoolManchester United, Inter Milan, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed they will participate. The other two teams will be decided in the special playoff. These sides are Manchester City, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Porto, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund.
