NIGERIA TO BID FOR AFRICA BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP

Nigeria may bid to host the 2019 Africa Senior Badminton Championship. The information emerged following the ratification of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria board meeting during the week. According to communique issued, the board will seek the approval of the Ministry of Youth and Sports before a formal bid will be made.

In addition to the proposed bid for the continental championship, the board also reported that it had appointed national coaches for the Nigerian teams.

Top on the appointment is that of Benjamin Orakpo who is now the national head coach. His appointment and others followed the ratification of the recommendations of the panel of interviewers and the review conducted by the BFN Technical Sub Committee.

The other appointments for the national senior team are George Shitta as an assistant coach as well as Suzan Agboola, also as national assistant coach.

For the junior team, the national head coach is Sulaiman Tajudeen who will be assisted by the duo of Ismaila Mohammed and Mariah Omonehin.
