The board of Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has commended the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for the financial support he gave to one of its players, Dorcas Adesokan towards preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Adesokan is Nigeria’s and Africa’s woman badminton champion. The Ogun State Governor recently gave her N5 million towards preparation for the Olympics in badminton. This is a far departure from the norm where training of Nigerian athletes for Olympic Games is usually hampered by lack of fund or the fund coming just as the Games are about to commence.
Meanwhile, the BFN Board revealed that it has dissolved the executive committee of the
Badminton Umpires Association in line with Article 8 of the constitution of the body. In the interim, it approved the composition of a three-man committee to review the association’s constitution and oversee the affairs of body pending the election of a new Executive Committee.
The committee members are:
Akin Akinyemi – Chairman
Usman – member
Mrs Florence Kola Balogun
