The Nigerian Government has boosted the morale of sprinters – Seye Ogunlewe and Enoch Adegoke – of Team Nigeria as the duo set for possible medals in the 100 metres final at the Commonwealth Games.
The two athletes are in the final which comes up on Monday. The Presidency in a tweet on Sunday remarked: “Congratulations to @seyeogunlewe and Enoch Adegoke, who have made it to the 100m men’s final at the Commonwealth Games. All of Nigeria is behind you, as you fly the Nigerian flag on Monday”.
Adegoke won his semi-final race in a time of 10.24 seconds while Ogunlewe clocked a season’s best of 10.20 seconds to place third in the third semi-final on Sunday. The 100 metres final, which take place on Monday, will feature Jamaica’s Yohan Blake and Kemar Hyman of the Cayman Islands. Others are Adam Gemili of the Great Britain, the South African duo of Akani Simbene and Henricho Bruintjies, as well as Jason Rogers of St. Kits and Nevis
