AGEGE STADIUM’S FIRST INTERNATIONAL MATCH GOAL LIFTS MFM TO CAF LEAGUE ROUND 1
MFM FC who overcame gritty AS Real Bamako 1-0 on Wednesday to advance from the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League into the Round 1 have a mountain to climb as they face Algeria’s Mouloudia Club d’Alger next month.
The apparent free-scoring Mouloudia Club d’Alger pummelled Congo’s AS Otoho 9-0 on Wednesday to advance on 9-2 aggregate score line. The Algerians as Mouloudia Chaàbia d’Alger in 1976 eliminated Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers on their way to winning their only title in CAF’s premier inter-clubs competition.
MFM in the first ever international match at the Agege Stadium advanced into the Round 1 on a 2-1 aggregate as Akuneto Chijoke enters the record books as the first scorer of a goal in an international match on a ground MFM FC has nicknamed ‘The Temple”.
The goal came five minutes to the regulation time as Akuneto connected a right flank cross from substitute player, Abayomi Lawal.
