Liverpool target, Wilfred Ndidi is the Nigerian player to watch when the Super Eagles take on Poland in Nigeria’s first pre-World Cup build up next month. This is the verdict by some Nigerian international players who spoke with www.sportsvillagesquare.com.
The former star players – Segun Odegbami, Etim Esin and Mutiu Adepoju – are of the view that the fine tackling Nigerian midfielder of Leicester City is capable of doing great job in curtailing Robert Lewandowski.
Speedster on the right wing, Segun Odegbami remarked that Ndidi will be the shining star of the match as he expects him to neutralise the bustling German Bundesliga top scorer, Lewandowski.
“I see him pocketing the great opponents for the Nigeria Super Eagles ahead the forthcoming FIFA World Cup. I am sure he capable of playing a key role in terms of tackles when the Super Eagles face Poland and England in the pre-World Cup build-up”.
Mutiu Adepoju who is easily recalled for his pin point header that put Nigeria back on track in the France ’98 match with Spain also believes in Ndidi’s ability at the World Cup.
“If featured in March’s friendly match with Poland, Ndidi will do all things possible to key a dangerous player like Robert Lewandowski. He will make the defensive line more balance.
“He reminds me of Sunday Oliseh as he plays almost same pattern with him. Besides, he is a workaholic who hardly get tired. I am sure he will pocket Lewandowski said Mutiu who starred for the Super Eagles at USA ’94 and France ’98.
Similarly, former Nigeria inside left player, the stocky Etim Esin believes in the ability of Ndidi. “I don’t think there a player Ndidi will not be able to handle”, remarked Esin.
