Fans of the MFM Football Club have hailed Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on the rehabilitation of Agege Stadium as home ground for the club in the 2018 CAF Champions League.
The stadium which followers of the club have nicknamed “Soccer Temple” is almost set for use as flood light, media tribune and other sporting facilities have been put in place.
The stadium first got a face lift last October when it hosted for the first time, the final match of Nigeria’s national cup now called Aiteo Cup. The high profiled attendance at the occasion included the CAF president, Ahmad.
The Senior Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Sports Facilities, Bolaji Yusuf, told the Sports Village Square that the state government has great plans for the stadium.
“I can proudly say that the stadium is now 90-95% ready for use towards next season’s CAF Champions League encounters. MFM has done Lagos proud and state government won’t hesitate to reward them according to their performance. The flood light we did is to help the fans enjoy the game at any given hour of the day.”
“As you can see, we are about building a media tribune that will also help journalists foster their work”, he remarked.
