President of Argentine football federation, Claudio Tapai has drummed the support for the recall of Juventus’ hit-man, Gonzalo Higuain to the Argentina national team.
Tapai, who wasn’t delighted about the outcome of last month international friendly game with Nigeria, is hoping Higuain gets a call up from Coach Jorge Sampaoli.
Tapai told Argentine medium, TyC sport that he believed the Argentina will need Higuain in prosecuting their World cup campaign in Group D which has Nigeria, Iceland and Croatia.
“The Argentina team has to be respected, but within all it must be accessible. We are happy because we are not going to travel a lot in the first phase.
“The friendly with Nigeria I take for example of what not to do. I think everything changed that day the moment the coach substituted Aguero. I have no doubt that Sampaoli is going to call Gonzalo Higuain,” he said.
The former Real Madrid star that has been sidelined from the Argentina squad in the past seven matches was in action when Nigeria clashed with Argentina during the 2010 and 2014 World Cup editions.
