In an earlier five seconds video post on his verified twitter handle, the central defender declared: “Cheek bone broken not my spirit though – surgery went well. Won’t be gone too long. No wahala, no shaking,”
The injury was suffered on Friday and had to be substituted after 75 minutes of the match which his team lost 2-0.
But when the news of his injury persisted in trending in various platforms such that doubts were cast on his availability of Nigeria’s last World Cup qualifying duel with Algeria nest month, Balogun retorted in another post: “@LeonBalogun “Are you my team doctor? Stop spreading false information just to get headline. Better: do some research about this injury. Thank u.”
The German-born Nigerian player has played prominent role in Nigeria’s march to Russia 2018 featuring in all encounters except the two matches with Swaziland and the away duel with Zambia last year.
