Nasarawa United Hunts for Three Points from Abia Warriors’ Fortress
BY ADAMS JESSE.
The Umuahia Township Stadium will come alive again in the Nigerian Professional Football League as Abia Warriors will play host to Nasarawa United in a Match Day 28 fixture.
Earlier this season both teams met at the Lafia City Stadium in a Match Day 8 contest with Abdulrahman Bashir giving the Miners an early lead before Sunday Adetunji equalized for the Ochendo boys, Douglas Achiv and Emmanuel Makama’s strikes made sure Nasarawa United put Abia Warriors to the cleaners.
In a chat with www.nasarawasportgist.wordpress.com Abia Warriors gaffer Abdullahi Biffo assures their teeming fans of the three points on deck in this encounter.
We are currently not in a good position on the log, we lost two straight games and the game against Nasarawa United will be a good time to return to winning ways.
We lost at Gombe United and Sunshine stars in our last two games, so irrespective of the opposition my boys will get the job done, he boosted.
Coach Kabir Dogo insists that he aims to get at least a point in Umuahia but the three points is a realistic target.
We drew at home to Gombe United in our previous game, we will approach this game with all seriousness and hopefully we will get something from the game, he concluded.
Both teams are on a patchy run of form with Abia Warriors losing two straight games and Nasarawa United losing one and drawing the other.
Nasarawa United are currently on ninth having played a total of 27 games securing 38 points in the process and will be banking on the trio of Thomas Zenke, Adamu Hassan and Abdulrahman Bashir to do the damage against the home side while hoping Suraj Ayeleso will be in his best form between the sticks.
Abia Warriors are 11th with 35 points from the same number of games and will be hoping the likes of Godwin Zaki, Sunday Adetunji and VAT goal of the week winner Shedrack Asiegbu find their finishing touches so as to secure the three points on deck.
