And the Brave Man and Hero Is Bravo!
BY KUNLE SOLAJA
Barring any other spectacular performance in the remaining three matches of the FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia, the tournament already has a hero.
And his name is Claudio Bravo, the captain and the hero of Chile’s spectacular sail into a final match of a FIFA competition for the first time ever.
He lived up to his name, Bravo, which various English dictionaries explained as an expression used to show pleasure and admiration when someone, especially a performer, has done something well.
Claudio Bravo did many things well. After an enthralling 120 minutes without a goal and the ill luck of his side hitting goalpost twice consecutively within less than 15 seconds of the encounter with a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Portugal, the encounter had to be decided on penalties.
Sports Village Square recalls that the Portugal-Chile encounter was the 11th FIFA Confederations Cup match to extend into extra time and the fifth to go into penalty shoot-out. This is where the heroic performance of the Manchester City man and captain of Chile came to fore.
He saved in successtion, the kicks by Ricardo Quaresma, then that of Joao Moutinho and Nani to shoot out Portugal from getting to the final.

This is what makes the game interesting. That Chile beat Portugal in spite of Rinaldo, deserves all the applause Chile can get. I hope they make it in the final
