Basketball: NBBF Holds Mid-Season Clinic
In a bid to improve the standard of officiating as well as increase the number of qualified technical officials participating in the Kwese Premier League and the Zenith Bank Women’s Premier League, the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF Referees’ Council and the Technical Commissioners Association have concluded arrangement to hold a mid-season refresher clinic for their officials.
Disclosing this in Asaba during the just concluded 3rd phase of the Zenith Bank Women’s Premier League, President of the NBBF Referees’ Council, Tunde Popoola said the refresher clinic which is expected to hold at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State from Tuesday will avail the technical officials who couldn’t make it at the last clinic an opportunity to update themselves.
Popoola who doubles as an NBBF Board member representing basketball referees added that participants are expected to arrive Ibadan on Tuesday and conclude their registration same day while classes will hold on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile the fourth phase of the Zenith Bank Women’s Premier League shifts to Ibadan and will run from next week Saturday to July16 inside the Indoor Hall of the Lekan Salami Stadium, the NBBF Administrative Secretary, Emmanuel Enejoh stated on Thursday.
According to Enejoh, participating teams and technical officials are expected to arrive on Thursday next week for the technical meeting on Friday while action resumes on July 8 through to July 15 with July 13 as rest day.
All the 12 teams which participated in Asaba last week are expected to battle for points in Ibadan from where only the top eight teams will proceed to the Final eight at a yet to be determined venue.
