Ogun GTBank Principals Cup Gets to Final
Pakoto High School, Ifo will face Ipara High School, Ipara as the GTBank Principals Cup in Ogun State reaches its climax – the final.
Despite playing under torrential rainfall, it was entertaining football at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta as teams slug it out in the semi finals of the fifth edition of the competition under the title sponsorship of GTBank, the organization that sponsors a similar competition in Lagos State.
As expected, the male category had it all – from hard tackles to great saves and spectacular goals – to leave spectators excited. At the end, it was Pakoto High School, Ifo beating Anglican Grammar School, Otta 2-1 in the first semi final match.
The hero of the encounter was Pakoto High School human goal scoring machine, Toheeb Olalekan whose brace in the 10th and 27th minute to put his side 2-0 and on course for victory. Anglican Grammar School, Otta rallied but were only able to pull a goal back in the 32nd minute.
The day came to a climatic finish with a 2-0 humbling of Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Ijebu Ode by Ipara Community High School, Ipara.
In the female category of the final match, Muslim High School, Isolu will face Iko Gateway Grammar School, Idiroko in the final. Muslim High School picked the final ticket after beating Makun High School, Sagamu 4-3 on penalties after a goalless score line in regulation time.
Iko Gateway Grammar School, Idiroko on the other hand defeated Our Lady of Apostles, Ijebu Ode 1-0 in the other semi final match. Hannah Adeyanju’s moment of brilliance in the 19th minute was enough to send her side to the finals and eliminate Our Lady of Apostles, Ijebu Ode.
