Akwa Utd Count on Home Form
BY MFON PATRICK.
Akwa United Football will look to continue their impressive home record in the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL when they engage Katsina United on Match day 25 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo this Sunday.
The ‘Promise Keepers’ who have been unbeaten at home this season, have enjoyed nine victories and three draws, scoring 22 while conceding only seven goals.
Akwa United will go into the encounter on the back of their 2-0 win over Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in midweek and Katsina United also won their last match beating El Kanemi Warriors 3-0. The visitors will be visiting the ‘Nest of Champions’ for the first time since they gained promotion to the NPFL.
With a game in hand and 36 points from 23 matches, Coach Abdu Maikaba’s team may break into the top four places on the log if they win on Sunday.
Akwa United picked their first away point of the season against Katsina United and the Uyo based side will be full of confidence going into the match as they hope to record their 11th win of the season.
There are no injury worries for Akwa United and Coach Maikaba has a strong squad to choose from. Fans will be expecting much from the front men who are scoring goals at will at the Nest of Champions.
