Even after passing on a year ago, Nigeria’s former coach, Amodu Shaibu is still a record holder in the FIFA Confederation Cup which opens on Saturday.

Sports Village Square gathered from records released by FIFA, the late Amodu at 36 years and 263 days was the youngest ever coach ever to take charge of a team at the FIFA Confederation Cup.

He achieved that when he guided the Super Eagles at the then Intercontinental Cup in Saudi Arabia in 1995. But that record will lapse this Saturday when New Zealand’s Anthony Hudson leads his team to face Russia.

At 36 years and 96 days, he will become the Confederations Cup’s youngest-ever coach.
