Ahmad’s Madagascar Shock Sudan!
The qualifying series for 2019 Africa Cup of Nations began Friday night with an unlikely result. Hitherto minnows, Madagascar, the native country of the new CAF President, Ahmad, began on a very bright note, beating Sudan 3-1 in Khartoum.
The visitors opened scoring in the 15th minute through Faneva Andriatsima. Carolus Andriamahitsinoro doubled the lead in the 62nd minute when he converted a penalty kick. The hosts fought back and pull a goal back nine minutes later.
But the visiting Madagascar were not done yet as Faneva Andriatsima achieved a brace with his 86th minute to put Madagascar on the driver’s seat of Group A.
The other Group A match will be contested on Saturday when Senegal host Equatorial Guinea .
