Kanu’s Wife Writes Book on Fitness
Fitness freak, Amara, the wife of Nigeria’s former captain, Nwankwo Kanu has put up a book on healthy living. The book goes by the title, “Healthy Living”. It is available on Amazon pre-order on June 5.
According to the author, her initial inspiration for the book and becoming a fitness expert was her mother’s illness who suffered a long term disorder of the digestive system caused by stress and the inability of the body to digest certain food that contains gluten.
Amara Kanu narrates her inspiration in her blog: “My mum is in her early 50’s and over the last 10 years it slowly took over her life, robbing her of the energy to do basic things for herself.
“Together we have worked on ways she can live with the disorder so she can eat and feel good after eating.
“The effects it had on me experiencing her panic over choosing the right food to eat been subtle but at the same time profound in that I unconsciously, adopted a healthier approach towards healthy eating, dealing with stress and maintaining personal fitness.
“Initially, getting my mum to give up certain eating habits was not an easy task. It proved more of a psychological challenge to channel the mind to choose healthier options.
It gets even more difficult when you have no energy, motivation or will left to do anything exciting for yourself.
“Being able to help women like my mum and others with different ages and backgrounds to manage life and push through rough times by guiding and sharing a healthy dose of positive energy brings me true joy and fulfilment.
“The ripple effect on other women and the entire family unit is an even greater outcome.
“My motto for AK Healthy is that it is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. Applying this logic to my personal and professional life and working on my fitness and health helped make managing my three children, husband and family that bit easier.
“This is why I have created this platform dedicated to helping people live healthier whilst managing their food and exercise choices.
