Nigeria’s first opponent in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series will take off to Uyo, venue of the match on June 7. The match holds three days later at the venue where both last met in Nigeria three years ago.
South Africa’s newly drafted coach, Stuart Baxter, has called up 25 players who are to report to camp on June 4. The team will barely train for three days before leaving for Nigeria.
The English coach is optimistic of pulling out good result in the encounter with Nigeria. He told the South African Football Association official website that his preparation for the encounter was on course.
“I am quite pleased with the squad we have assembled. We have a small element of development with a couple of young players. We also have some players who are returning to the squad, the likes of Zungu and Rantie.
“We have players who have been outstanding in the PSL the whole season, we also have continuity with a number of players that SAFA has invested much time in and we have them in the team. I believe we have a good mix.”
