Rivers United Bounce Back

Nigeria’s Rivers United rediscovered their path as they struggled to a 1-0 victory over Faith Union Sport of Morocco on Wednesday in the Match Day two of the CAF Confederation Cup in Port Harcourt.

Following the result and the previous day’s 1-0 defeat of Tunisia’s Club Africain by Uganda’s Kampala City Council Authority, all the teams in Group A are now tied with three points each.

However, the goal difference of plus two gives the leadership to FUS of Morocco. They are followed by Club Africain with a goal difference.

Nigeria’s Rivers United with a goal deficit are just a shade ahead of the Ugandans who have two goals deficit to be at the bottom of the group.

Rivers United now have back-to-back fixtures with Uganda’s KCCA on June 3 in Kampala and June 20 in Port Harcourt.

Rivers United almost left it too late before Emeka Atuloma scored the only goal that revive the hopes of surviving the group. The goal came with less than 20 minutes left.
