BY PATRICK MFON
By the time Akwa United will file out against MFM at the Agege stadium today in Lagos, in one of the match day 20 fixtures of the Nigeria professional Football League NPFL, at least six of her players will be natives of Lagos, or players who must have played there at some point or former MFM players.
Agege stadium will not be a strange venue for defender Godspower Igudia, midfielders Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Aremu Afeez and forwards Musa Newman, Moses Ebiye and new signing Gabriel Okechukwu who have all played there in the past.
The players in their separate interactions with the media department of the club said they will give their best in the field of play during the match which they say will be more like a home game for them
Speaking ahead of the match, Godspower Igudia and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi said, “Lagos is our home and we have lot of fans here, so there will be no problem playing at the Agege stadium because it is a venue we know very well”.
“Despite the fact that many of us are from here and others may have played for clubs in Lagos including MFM, our visit to Agege stadium is strictly for business and our ultimate target is to play for all three points at stake”.
“We know we have lot of fans and friends here in Lagos, we know and hope that they will understand that our hearts are with Akwa United and we will do all we can to win MFM”.
