Rivers United Mourn ‘Soccerfire’ Kokoriko

Rivers United are making arraignment to observe a minute silence in their league match with Nasarawa United in honour of a renowned football commentator in Rivers State, Chief Godspower Kokoriko, who died on Friday.
Widely known as ‘Soccerfire and footballically’, Kokoriko passed on in the early hours of Friday and expectedly a flood of condolence messages poured in for the fallen icon.
General Manager of Rivers United FC, Chief Okechukwu Kpalukwu expressed shock at the death of Chief Kokoriko adding that the club will honour the memory of the fallen hero.
“It is very painful especially at this period of our continental campaign. May his soul rest in peace.”
Former Nigeria international, Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka (Owolo; the traditional and administrative head of Owolo Omuaru-Wari, one of the oldest and most notable War-canoe Houses in Wakirike-Bese, Okrika) also offered his condolences to the family of the late Chief Kokoriko.
Also speaking on the sad development, Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Hon. Boma Iyaye expressed shock at Chief Kokoriko’s demise and prayed God Almighty to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Executive Committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Chris Green also gave a condolence message following the passing of the icon.
